SOME STUFF WE HAVE (AND SOME STUFF WE DON'T)
AMOUNT OF TRANS FAT IN OUR POPPADOMS: ZERO
Trans Fat is bad news (really). It comes from making foods with 'partially hydrogenated oils'. Much like that girl you once made eye contact with on the subway and never saw again, these are not good for your heart either.
QUANTY OF ARTIFICIAL PRESERVATIVES USED IN OUR POPPADOMS: ZERO POINT ZERO
Well, this is a bit of a lie. We do use a preservative. It's called 'Salt.'
GLUTEN CONTENT IN OUR POPPADOMS: WELL, IF YOU FIND SOME, THEN LET US KNOW.
Gluten comes from wheat or wheat based products. It is bad for those suffering from something nasty called Celiac disease. We make our Poppadoms with lentils, so this is not something we have to worry about.
GLYCEMIC INDEX (GI) OF LENTILS: 29 (LOWER THE BETTER)
The Glycemic Index ranks food on a scale of 0 to 100, depending on their effect on blood glucose levels after you eat them. A high GI food causes a quick rise in blood glucose and makes you go a bit crazy, much like what happens to people of a certain generation when they hear summer of '69 on the radio. A low GI food releases energy slowly throughout the day, which is a good thing.
amount of kryptonite/cholestrol: 0g
Dietary cholestrol comes from animal foods. No plant foods or fruits or grains have cholestrol. This is why even potato chips can claim to have no cholestrol. Saying we have no cholestrol is the same as saying we have no kryptonite.
HOW MUCH FIBER DO WE HAVE? AROUND 11G PER 100G
Remember that time you went out to hunt for the 'whole grain' option in everything you eat after reading it online ? Well, you need whole grains to provide the fiber which helps you anything you eat. Lentils happen to be a great source. Now you know.
% OF UNPRONOUNCEABLE CHEMICALS USED: 0%
We do extensive quantities of a certain chemical called dihydrogen monoxide or hydroxyl acid (GASP!!!).
Time for a quick chemistry lesson. The chemical notation for dihydrogen monoxide is H2O, also known as 'water.' (And to think you nearly had a fit just then!)
Everything we eat is a chemical of some sort. We just try to keep it simple with our ingredients.
HOW MEAN IS GREEN? EXTREMELY.
This means that we use no animal products in making our Poppadoms. Who says you need meat to provide proteins?
